Because a non-firearms instructor in another program blew an o-ring and soiled his panties over the audacity of using a firing range as a firing range instead of a parking lot, I've modified the NRTI Range Dates tab to indicate which areas we'll/you'll be using. When you contact me for range time, be sure we work out if you also want the long range, though in my mind 180 yards isn't very long. I'm also planning on reopening the trail we used on the roadbed running along the highwall, and pushing Steve's plans for a dedicated cover range at the mouth of the trail. The Main Force Patrol / Appalachian Undercover Car will likely wind up living there, so I can try once again to melt vinyl upholstery with ejected cases from a MP5.
There's been some fill-ish stuff trucked in for the road craters, though it'll be interesting to see if anyone actually brings equipment out to fill them with it, or if I wind up with a SEPTA crew with 5 gallon buckets and using the Honda of Justice as a road-roller. I'm also waiting for the specs on road matting to put at the on-ramp to the rifle range down to the berm, so moving equipment isn't like driving through the Amazon, or Carbondale.
Even though it violates my rules about separating live fire areas from exercise areas, now that we've been evicted from the Mildew Mansion we may do some of our crime scenes and other practicals at the range, until I get things set up at a new Undisclosed Location. I have to make sure that the simulated body dump site isn't next to a real body dump site, and so forth.
Contact Information
NRTI as we knew it is no more, and I don't know what will happen in the future. Technically, I'm still employed by the College, though am enjoying a paid hiatus, and working on everything I couldn't work on when I was spending 70 hours a week running the Program, like cleaning up from the tornado that hit, what, 7 years ago now? I'm also commissioned with a nearby county agency, actually answering to one of the more popular instructors, so I'm still trying to keep my hand in.
I'll continue to post information and news from grads and friends, and also want to keep current with LE news and references.
My College phone and e-mail are pretty much out of service, so I'll be setting up yet another account , so we can stay in touch.
