The S&W 547

Good read on the S&W 547, an obscure product of the 80's that never got the attention it deserved.  A 9mm true medium/K frame revolver, it was one of the only wheelguns of which I'm aware that could chamber and fire pistol cartridges without moon clips of some type, the .45 Auto Rim dependent on the cartridge, not the extraction system.  For agencies or persons heavily invested in 9mm it would make perfect sense to have a standby system that could be fielded with a revolver's simpler manual of arms, versus an 80's era autoloader.  And with mags always being lost or damaged, it's an option to stay in the fight should we have to face the zombie apocalypse with single-shot autoloaders.  I think Charter Arms or one of the smaller makers may have had a similar system, but aren't sure.

I'm pretty sure that Smith was only calling Model 10s "M&Ps" then, and not as a model name.  But the 547, 3-inch and 5-inch pencil barrel Model 10s and H&K P7s are the pieces from that era that I constantly, deeply regret not picking up, besides Colt DA revolvers in general, too many to list.
