It may help just a little that a senior Academy instructor and several graduates work there, but this agency's graphics really stand out for me, as a hobbyist typographer and frustrated graphic designer:
It's very clean, distinctive, easily recognized and has great proportions. The font is a lot like Optima, which means it has a seamless blend of both modern and traditional aspects. I like serif fonts, but they can be a pain to apply as car markings, and if individual letters are used each serif has to be really nailed down, or the first troop who hits it with a pressure washer will start it peeling off.
Arrowheads are a hell of lot more appropriate than Bison as a thematic element in LE markings. I'd rather not send the message that I'm associated with large, not particularly bright herbivores, but you can't fight tradition.
Contact Information
NRTI as we knew it is no more, and I don't know what will happen in the future. Technically, I'm still employed by the College, though am enjoying a paid hiatus, and working on everything I couldn't work on when I was spending 70 hours a week running the Program, like cleaning up from the tornado that hit, what, 7 years ago now? I'm also commissioned with a nearby county agency, actually answering to one of the more popular instructors, so I'm still trying to keep my hand in.
I'll continue to post information and news from grads and friends, and also want to keep current with LE news and references.
My College phone and e-mail are pretty much out of service, so I'll be setting up yet another account , so we can stay in touch.
