This is dumb. Even the ACLU states: “It’s technology. It’s valueless. It’s all how it’s used,” Gilbert said. “Technology can be used for good things and bad things, and what the bill is trying to do is make sure that drones are not misused by police.” Of course, there have not been, to my knowledge, proven cases of police drone abuse. Like guns, I suppose if you ban something, by some sort of magical thinking, bad things will never happen. Never mind that good things won't happen either.
If drones are banned because they might be misused, we should also ban K9s, bomb robots, metal detectors, sirens, binoculars, aircraft of any sort, radar/LIDAR, aerostats (look it up), telephoto lenses, computers, hostage phones, pens, lightbars, FLIR, Nightsun spotlights, Hemi engines, side-scan sonar and pretty much everything else that's cool in our jobs.
But the photo is priceless. I love my toy helicopter.

NRTI as we knew it is no more, and I don't know what will happen in the future. Technically, I'm still employed by the College, though am enjoying a paid hiatus, and working on everything I couldn't work on when I was spending 70 hours a week running the Program, like cleaning up from the tornado that hit, what, 7 years ago now? I'm also commissioned with a nearby county agency, actually answering to one of the more popular instructors, so I'm still trying to keep my hand in.
I'll continue to post information and news from grads and friends, and also want to keep current with LE news and references.
My College phone and e-mail are pretty much out of service, so I'll be setting up yet another account , so we can stay in touch.
