Contact Information

NRTI as we knew it is no more, and I don't know what will happen in the future. Technically, I'm still employed by the College, though am enjoying a paid hiatus, and working on everything I couldn't work on when I was spending 70 hours a week running the Program, like cleaning up from the tornado that hit, what, 7 years ago now? I'm also commissioned with a nearby county agency, actually answering to one of the more popular instructors, so I'm still trying to keep my hand in.

I'll continue to post information and news from grads and friends, and also want to keep current with LE news and references.

My College phone and e-mail are pretty much out of service, so I'll be setting up yet another account , so we can stay in touch.

SERPA Holsters

There were a couple discussions on the range over the last weeks about the SERPA holster.  While not stated in RM9, they are not authorized by the NPS, and I don't have any first hand knowledge of an agency of any size that issues them.  I strongly discourage their use, but if I "banned" them from NRTI sites I'd have a number of people wandering around with pistols in their pockets.  The holster is everywhere, at a price point many can afford, gives the illusion of retention, and probably comes with cool-guy points for some people.

Apparently the Air Force isn't fond of them either, as there was a memo to Security Forces last month essentially banning the SERPA and mandating the use of Safariland modular holsters.  So it isn't just me.

If you absolutely, positively have to buy a plastic holster from the WalMart of nylon stuff, there is, or was, a version that didn't have the trigger-finger seducer feature with the built-in debris receptacle.
